In 2016 One Tree Point resident Colin Coutts brought together a group of like-minded local artists to create the inaugural One Tree Point Art & Craft Working Exhibition, held at Marsden Bay Yacht Club in One Tree Point over Anniversary weekend 2017.
This exhibition was so successful the decision was made by the 12 exhibitors to create a committee and make this an annual event for the area.
Expressions of Interest were sent out to the wider community looking for exhibitors and over 40 artists applied, so the Committee decided to approach Hoppers Construction to use their Marquee. The company decided to come on board and donated the venue for free.
Colin Coutts says it’s a unique opportunity to bring artists from all over the North together who want to share their craft with the public and meet like minded people who share a passion for art of all genres. “The Marquee is a huge space to fill and fill it we will. The exhibition will be colourful and vibrant. We have painters, sculptors, jewellers, potters, wood turners, weavers, photographers and a range of textile artists all keen to share their knowledge and passion”.
The Exhibition will offer the public a wide range of artwork for sale as well as the opportunity to see the artists working on their respective pieces. The event will once again be held on the Saturday and Sunday of Auckland Anniversary weekend, 27 & 28 January 2018 from 10am-4pm at Marsden Cove Marina. Costumes from the 2017 Art ‘n Tartan Exhibition will also be on display and food will be available for sale. Don’t forget to bring a gold coin for the entry and there will be eftpos available for purchasing the fabulous art.
