Westpac Northland Business Excellence Awards for 2016 took place at Forum North on Friday 28 October with Waipapa Pine Ltd winning the Supreme 2016 Westpac Northland Business of the Year and was also the Vodafone Excellence in Business Large Business Award.
Creative Northland were proud to award our Creative Industries Award for 2016 to Te Hiku Media (Te Reo Irirangi o Te Hiku o Te Ika). The organisation have over the past 25 years transformed into a multimedia platform organisation; becoming an Iwi communications hub for radio and online media. Judges noted that Te Hiku Media have a clear revitalisation strategy for Maori language content, archiving and digital innovation. Their goals and objectives show they are in the business of delivering ‘meaning’ where users’ needs are not only satisfied by form and function but also through experiences – the meaning. Their planning takes a design thinking innovation process to drive their market rather than adapt which has led to technology epiphanies such as live streaming major events, building online digital platforms and building data. All underpinned by sound fiscal decision making.
