Creative Northland
27 April – 29 June (10 weeks)
Tuesdays, 3:30 – 5 pm
The goal of the workshops is to equip artists to engage confidently and professionally with their communities. They will support connections between practitioners, and provide a supportive space to present studio work and gain feedback on their practice, the workshops conclude with a group exhibition.
Ideally participants are engaged in making and are able to develop a body of work to exhibit. Places are limited to a maximum of six participants.
The workshop content is tailored to the needs of the participants, broadly, we will cover; maintaining a creative practice, research and context of making, and critical discussion with our fellow creatives. We will also cover grants and funding for arts projects, the business side of creative practice. Participants will be engaged in making work, preparation and planning for an exhibition, installation, sponsorship, documentation, contracts and statement writing.

Kaupapa and biography
Angela is an artist based in Whangarei. In 2020, she completed a Master of Fine Arts through Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design, Auckland, Aotearoa.
She has a diverse and multifaceted practice that includes collaboration, storytelling, textile work, installation, performance, drawing, audio and video work. Recently, her work Selfies Stitched in lockdown 2020 was selected as a finalist in the Wallace Awards 2020 and is part of the touring finalist showcase. Her work Exercise 45, was a finalist in Changing Threads 2021, National Fibre Art Awards in Nelson. She has exhibited locally at Geoff Wilson Gallery, including an installation and performance from her masters research, entitled, I used to find dead insects in your pockets.
Angela has experience in writing grant applications, project proposals, group work, writing and contextual research, and project management. She enjoys working with others and seeing people succeed.
