Creative Northland – Connecting Northland’s Art Sector

ArtBeat is Whangarei’s biggest FREE Interactive Arts Festival open to the whole community in Northland. ArtBeat 2020 will be held on Saturday 1 February 10am – 4pm, once again in the beautiful Cafler Park in Whangarei.

There will be so many awesome free activities for the whole family including an Interactive Art Zone for the creative kiddies, Youth Zone for the teens, Entertainment Hub with live, local acts throughout the day, beautiful works by the arts and crafts market and delicious food!

Join the community for this annual event that has attracted over 8,000 people each year – we hope to see you there!

Follow the Facebook Page to keep up to date with the event!

Expressions of Interest

Stall Holders

Stallholders are required to complete an ‘Expression of Interest Form’ online which will then be evaluated by the Creative Northland team who will select the ‘best fit’ stalls and allocate sites. This means that by completing the form you are not automatically a stallholder at the event.

We are aiming for a ZERO WASTE event meaning there will be stricter rules around rubbish and food vendors will be required to serve all food in either biodegradable, compostable or reusable packaging.

The types of stalls are as follows:
Community Group $30.00 – promotion only, nothing for sale
Arts & Crafts Sales $65.00 – locally made arts and crafts in Northland
Commercial Food Stall $100.00 – you must charge for your food, no free food is allowed as this is unfair to the other food vendors.

Entertainment Acts for Main Stage & Busking Site

There are two sites we are looking for acts to fill – the Main Stage (Entertainment Hub) and the Busking Site (in the Arts & Crafts Market).

Main Stage – The type of acts we are looking for the main stage are high energy, high quality, crowd-pleasing acts from the Northland area. We are looking for a diverse range of acts such as cultural dancers, solo singers, bands, kapa haka to theatrical performances. There are limited spaces so apply asap. There is a small fee paid to each act.
Busking Site – This site is suited for smaller, emerging acts who would like the opportunity to perform in front of the community but are not quite ready for the main stage. This is purely a busking opportunity and there is no budget (at this point in time) to pay artists wanting to participate but you can take donations from the public. There is no power planned to this site at present but this may change.

Creative Northland is also looking for awesome volunteers to help out with ‘Neverland’ and general event-assisting. This is a great opportunity to get some experience on your CV at a fun event.

The duties for Neverland may include Set up and Pack down, Face Painting, Storytelling and running a treasure hunt. The general assistance tasks may include pack in and pack out (setting up tables, chairs, gazebos and more), assisting the stage manager, traffic management, surveying, stallholder assistant and more!

For inquiries please contact Briar Fabian at events@creativenorthland.com or 09 430 0710.

Welcome to Creative Northland!
