Creative Northland continue their large-scale outdoor projections in association with the Whangarei RSA, which have previously marked ANZAC and Passchendaele anniversaries, by this year extending the invitation to AwhiWorld, BellTech and Channel North to provide content and technical expertise to mark the 100 anniversary of Armistice Day, which will take place at 11 am on the 11th of November 2018.
11.11 Armistice is a silent large scale 2-night outdoor visual projection performance. It will commemorat Armistice Day and be projected onto the side of the Library Building in Rust Ave, Whangarei CBD. The best viewing site will be outside the Creative Northland building/old bowling green in front of the RSA next door to the Library.
Maggie Buxton and Kim Newall (AwhiWorld) have created original animated content as well as using existing archival images and those provided by Channel North. Channel North created the audio-visual content for local Museum KiwiNorth’s ‘The Great War – Northland remembers’ exhibition that opened in 2015.
The 11.11 Armistice projection work pays homage to Armistice Day/Remembrance Day around the world. Maggie and Kim will take turns to live mix the visuals as a performance from 8pm to 10:30 pm on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th November 2018. Tim Bell of BellTech, provides the logistics and projection units for the Event.
This Projection leads up to the Whangarei RSA’s Armistice 100 event, which is the 100th Commemoration Remembrance Service, Laurie Hall Cenotaph, service starting 10:40am.
Both the 11.11 Armistice Projection and RSA official Service welcome public to attend.
