Just over a year ago, ALEX CAMINITI made a huge splash in Kerikeri.
With an impressive exhibition of large energetic paintings on canvas and raw organic sculptures, Kerikeri was taken by storm and artists who attended Caminiti’s workshop were so inspired, they said it was ‘life changing’.
Julia Reinholt moved the gallery from Hobson Avenue to her home studio last year, finding rents in town no longer sustainable. In a smaller, intimate space, Julia has continued to have exhibitions keeping a low profile with clients viewing by appointment or on demand. In order for Julia to continue doing what she loves but in a more manageable environment, she now represents about half the number of artists, all not represented elsewhere in
Northland.
The artwork remains of world-class calibre by established National and International artists. To date Fran Leitch, Scott McFarlane, Bernie Winkels and Richard Adams have had exquisite little shows, Alex Caminiti and John Oxborough are next…
Opening on June 1st , ALEX CAMINITI’s small canvases and work on paper will be exhibited with abstract paintings and ink drawings by special guest JOHN OXBOROUGH from Auckland.
Caminiti and Oxborough met last year, and John has looked forward to sharing a show with the world-renowned Sicilian.
Oxborough is represented by Sandersons, The Vivian and Northart, and operates Fine Art and Interiors | johnoxborough.com.
Since Caminiti left New Zealand, Caminiti has exhibited in Italy, Sicily, China, South American. He is looking at Argentina for his next exhibition and hopes this will bring him back to visit us in New Zealand in the near future.
“We look forward to seeing you at the opening June 1st , come and meet John, let’s make him feel welcome in Northland!”
